Why is this happening to me?

A few months ago, one of my old friends – from high school – was having a problem at her workplace with her supervisor. She mentioned it in our WhatsApp group and said that she was considering to quit her job. We all told her to reconsider and wanted her to find out if there was anything else that could be done to help her, rather than her leaving a job that she likes and she is successful at, just because of one mean person.

There was one feedback among others that gave me a pause and made me think hard… One friend said; “Whenever something like this happens to me, I try to take a step back and think… I try to understand what lies underneath this situation. I ask myself; why did this person come to my life? What am I learning from this person or this situation? If I have experienced a similar situation in the past, what did I miss then? Is it fair to think that, as the first time I did not learn what I was meant to learn from that situation, I am re-living a similar problem again and I might continue doing so until I fully and completely understand the real purpose of that experience?”

What a great approach, isn’t it? Seeing each and every experience as an opportunity to learn… Instead of accusing others of what they do to us, looking at ourselves and think about why this is happening to us in the first place…

If the Universe (or God/Allah/etc.) brings you a big problem to deal with, know that you are the recipient of that problem because the Universe knows that you have the necessary strength in your heart to deal with it, and the creativity to solve it.

We are here to learn, to grow, to improve, to accept, to help, to move forward… And if we consider a difficult situation as a puzzle that requires solving and deal with it with a more rational approach, instead of being mad, or sad, or angry, we could look at it from a more objective point of view, rather than a more emotional one. Which would make our lives much easier… Wouldn’t you agree?
