How to use affirmations to remove our negative beliefs?

I have touched upon the role of positive affirmations that might have in our lives, should we chose to benefit from them, in one of my earlier blog posts, with the title of “Help yourself with positive affirmations“. You can go to that post for a minute and check it out in case you need a little bit of descriptive and introductory information about affirmations. But today, I want to get into “How?” and explain the steps we could take to get the help of affirmations with creating a more positive and fulfilling life.

Affirmations basically are vehicles that are effective in programming our mind into believing any stated concept, as our mind does not know the difference between what is real and what is a fantasy.

There are both negative and positive kinds of affirmations. For example, if you tell your child he or she is too fat or too clumsy, these statements could stay with them all their life, affecting their self-confidence and self-respect in a very negative way, while the opposite, like telling them they have always been lucky, everything ends up happening the way they want, etc. stick with them too – fortunately.

And actually, we can help the positive affirmations to get stronger so that they could overcome our negative thoughts. There are a few steps to take in order to accomplish that.

First, make a list of what you’ve always thought of as your negative qualities without any judgment regarding whether or not they are accurate. Simply make a note of them regardless of who put those beliefs in your mind (yourself, your parents, your friends, your boss, etc.). Pay attention to what you feel while writing these negative qualities and see if you feel tightness or dread in your heart or stomach.

Then write an affirmation on the positive aspect of your self-judgment using powerful words, such as; “I’m remarkable and cherished.”

Repeat the affirmation out loud for about five minutes, three times a day — morning, mid-day and evening, preferably standing in front of a mirror while putting on your make up for ladies, or shaving for gentlemen, so that you can look at yourself in the mirror as you repeat the positive statement.

While repeating the affirmation, place your hand on the area that felt uncomfortable when you wrote the negative belief in step one.

Remember; in order for a positive affirmation work best for you, you need to determine the negative belief that is opposing it and make that your starting point to create your positive affirmation as your first step to remove that negative belief from your subconscious mind.

If you try following these steps, you will realize how powerful and helpful your positive affirmation in terms of changing your mood, state of mind and manifesting the change you desire in your life. Please give it a chance…
