If your profession requires you to be rested and alert at all times and getting the sleep you need is extremely important. Be it a hard working surgeon, or a pilot, or a manufacturing worker dealing with heavy machinery, or a soldier in a combat line. How would you make sure you get the sleep you should, in order to function properly during the hours committed to your job that requires being alert at all times?
You would make sure you fall asleep fast and not spend a second more than you should when you have the opportunity, and benefit from every minute of it, right? Correct…
My son mentioned a technique that helps anyone fall asleep in just two minutes. He told me that this trick is used by the US army to help their soldiers fall asleep when in situations that are less than peaceful. I have found it quite interesting and looked into it closer. Also, watched a few videos on the subject on YouTube.
And here is how you do it:
- Relax the muscles in your face, including tongue, jaw, forehead and the muscles around your eyes
- Drop your shoulders as far down as they will go, followed by your upper and lower arm, one side at a time
- While breathing out, relax your chest followed by your legs, starting from the thighs and working down
- Then spend 10 seconds trying to clear your mind before thinking about one of the three following images:
- You’re lying in a canoe on a calm lake with nothing but a clear blue sky above you
- You’re lying in a black velvet hammock in a pitch-black room
- You say “don’t think, don’t think, don’t think” to yourself over and over for about 10 seconds.
And the good news is that this technique is said to work for 96 per cent of people after a few weeks of practice.
Well here I am sharing it with you all, especially with the ones who are having sleep problems. Even if you do not have any difficulty sleeping or falling asleep now, it does not mean that you will never have any problem in the future.
So, keep this in mind for a rainy day and think of me when you use it.
Good night and sleep tight.
As you know I have no such problem -for which I am grateful. But indeed there are friends around who suffer; will share this right away. Best
Thank you ❤️
