Self-realization makes us humble. Replace temper with compassion. The more innocent you are, the more blissful you will be.
Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi
I think it was around early 2009, I have attended Sahaja Yoga sessions in Hamilton Ontario for a few months. I wanted to continue but had other pressing priorities at the time. Now, unfortunately, that location does not have “in-person” classes but free of charge online sessions are announced on their Facebook page regularly. These sessions, provided by sahaj.me, are free of charge and open to anyone.
First a little bit of information on what Sahaja Yoga is. Nirmala Srivastava (21 March 1923 – 23 February 2011), also known as Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, was the founder of Sahaja Yoga, which is a simple meditation technique.
In his book The Power of Intention, Wayne Dyer summarises Shri Mataji’s message as follows:
- You are beyond the body and mind—the greatest truth is that you are the spirit.
- One has to know the spirit to know the truth.
- Meditation is the only way to grow. The growth of awareness takes place in the silence of thoughtless awareness.
If you go to the Experience It Now page of the Sahaja Yoga Meditation web site, you can try the Self Realization Meditation, following the instructions provided in the audio, video or text form. I am sure you will find it interesting.
If you also read a little bit about Shri Mataji, even if through the Wikipedia page about her, you will see how a selfless and humble person she was. According to author David V. Barrett, “… she insisted that one cannot pay for enlightenment and she continued to denounce the false self-proclaimed ‘gurus’ who are more interested in the seekers’ purse than their spiritual ascent”.
There is a wide variety of paths that are out there, available to anyone interested in improving their self-awareness and self-enlightenment. Sahaja Yoga meditation is just one of them. It is well respected and exercised worldwide by millions of people.
If you open yourself and let the Universe bring the knowledge you feel the thirst for, you will find another person within you that you were not aware of before. Here I am, bringing the information to you through this blog post. There is a reason why you are reading this right now.
Let the divine light shine in you.
