I love having coaching conversations with people from all walks of life. And it’s always a two-way street. While guiding these amazing people towards their infinite possibilities, I also learn a lot about life and even about myself. It’s a transformational process that re-creates the person across to me – meaning on my laptop screen – right in front of my eyes. And that’s the most fulfilling sentiment ever.
Seeing the positive change between where we’ve started and where we came along is refreshing. Sometimes I even consider recording our first and last sessions so that they could see the difference themselves. Because interesting enough, the positive effects that coaching sessions have on the coachee are visible.
I know this sounds a little silly, but the transformation that a series of coaching sessions generate is unmistakably apparent. The face changes, the eyes change, the look and posture change, even the voice and the speech change. After a few sessions, I start seeing a completely different person. Full of hope, self-confidence, commitment, excitement, creative ideas, calmness and happiness.
Because all of a sudden, they get it. The realization of having the power to change everything starts to emerge. And that changes the discourse from “I don’t know what to do, I can’t, I shouldn’t” to “I am capable, I have the tools, I have the passion and ambition, I can.”
That’s like whispering in someone’s ear the secret of life, giving them the power to change everything, like offering them the key to a world where anything is possible, providing them with the tools to solve their problems without outside help. It’s like instead of giving them a fish, teaching them how to fish.
And that, my friends, is so much more fun.
I very much enjoyed your post – your passion and enthusiasm for your work and your clients.
