It feels like anxiety became a solid part of our lives, with the amount of stress we all experience every day at home, at work, at school, in traffic, during Christmas shopping at the crowded mall. It might get unbearable sometimes and dealing with it is not the easiest either, as anxiety is a stubborn feeling. Once it settles down in you, never wants to leave.
And of course, there are many ways of dealing with anxiety as you all know. Like; meditating, psycho-therapy, taking prescription drugs, etc. There is one other alternative method out there, which is called the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).
Have you ever heard of this technique? If not, here is a short description of it from Dr. Mercola’s website: “EFT is a form of psychological acupressure, based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments for over 5,000 years, but without the invasiveness of needles. Instead, simple tapping with the fingertips is used to input kinetic energy onto specific meridians on the head and chest while you think about your specific problem — whether it is a traumatic event, an addiction, pain, etc. — and voice positive affirmations.”
It not only helps to lower your anxiety level, but it also works for other physiological problems like pain, fibromyalgia, and psoriasis with a definitive stress component. Other areas it is effective are; depression, addiction, food cravings, PTSD, phobias, and sleep problems.
There are plenty of videos on YouTube demonstrating how to do this tapping exercise and which affirmations to repeat while doing it.
I have heard about EFT a few years ago and applied it whenever I felt anxious. It really helped me at the time, but later on, I forgot about it. Last night while meditating it came back to me (that’s what happens while I meditate; inspirational thoughts come for a visit and then leave so that I can continue my meditation. It is quite interesting and it happens quite often).
I thought I should share this technique with my friends here… For you to take a look and see if you would like to try it. Because it is easy and really helpful. I highly recommend it as an alternative way of dealing with stress, anxiety, and other psychological hurdles.
I hope it helps you and your loved ones… PS: I love you.
