You might have heard about the 16/8 Intermittent Fasting idea. It has been quite popular in the last few years. An easy and convenient way to lose weight while burning fat and being healthy.
Following this method means, limiting consumption of foods and calorie-containing beverages to a set window of eight hours per day, while not eating anything for the remaining 16 hours.
I have been practicing this method for a couple of years now, and I should admit that it worked for me. Not that I had too many extra weight on me but had 4-5 kilos (10 lbs or so) that I wanted to get rid of, and I thought this fasting method has worked the best for me compared to other things I have tried. I do not eat anything before noon and after 8 PM. Though I drink water and one or two coffee with cream in the morning, and after 8 PM, the only thing I consume is either green tea or hot water with lemon juice – except the popcorn, I have once a month or so, when we have a movie night at home.
It is easy to follow and provides results. Especially if it is accompanied by some physical activity, such as; walking for 15-20 minutes per day, or light workout, Yoga, Pilates.
The best part of it is that you can eat or drink whatever you like during eight hours’ time. Though you should try to keep beverage related calories at the minimum while getting your essential calories mainly from food. Also, you need to make sure that you have at least three hours between the time you had your last bite, and the time you go to sleep. So, quite easy to fit into your lifestyle.
This method is also believed to improve blood sugar control, boost brain function and enhance longevity.
Though noon to 8 PM works best for me, most people prefer to follow 9 AM to 5 PM schedule. Actually, if you like to have breakfast every day, then this might be your best bet. While I am not a breakfast person, just coffee is good for me in the morning, most people prefer to start their day with a healthy breakfast.
Fasting cleanses your body, boosts your immune system and makes you feel lighter and more energetic. That is how it makes me feel at least.
In case you would like to explore the idea further, you can take a look at David Zinczenco’s “The 8 Hour Diet” book. Not that I have read the book myself. I just did some online research and followed the signs of my body.
In a nutshell, what I am trying to say is; 16/8 Intermittent Fasting worked well for me, therefore; I wanted to share this information as I would like more people to benefit from it. I hope you find this useful 🙂 Because, I love you…
