Let Go Of What No Longer Serves You

When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.

– Alexander Graham Bell

You must all have felt some kind of regret about something that you did or did not in the past, most probably more than once. But when you look at your past experiences, good or bad, from a more objective point of view, and realize that whoever you are today is the result and sum of all your experiences, you might be able to feel better about it all.

The emotion of regretfulness is mainly a negative self-judgment. Involves disappointment and rejection towards ourselves. If we think about something that has happened in the past and we regret the way we handled it, or we reacted at, it means that we are still stuck at that experience. And that, my friends, prevents us from moving forward, feeling happy and positive.

We cannot let ourselves be burdened by our regrets. We cannot let those thoughts and feelings slow us down and keep us away from our goals and dreams. Therefore; we should make peace with the mistakes we have made, acknowledge their presence in our past, thank them for what they taught us, and move on. We should just let it go and focus on here and now.

I encourage you to have some quiet time with yourself, think about your regrets, say; “I am sorry, please forgive me, I love you, thank you” for each and every regret you have, then let them fly away from your conscious mind. You will feel lighter instantly. Please try it and you will understand what I mean.
