A Couple of Positivity Rituals for Tonight on Winter Solstice

As you know, December 21st marks the shortest day and longest night of the year – also known as; winter solstice. This year the solstice coming in a state fortified by a full moon occurring less than 24 hours after the solstice, and a meteor shower the following day right after the full moon.

The full moon is quite special being this close to winter solstice as it is a rare occurrence, which happened last in 1977, and will not happen again until 2029.

The spiritual meaning of this date comes from it being an end to darkness, and a beginning to light and shine and hope and positivity. Because the days get longer and longer after this date. It makes us feel better, knowing that warmer days will come soon. Celebrating this switch brings us happiness and anticipation.

There are several rituals created and practiced for centuries by many cultures on this day. One of them is getting a pomegranate and breaking it with your foot (in a bag of course, if you do not want to try getting rid of stains for the rest of the year) right at the threshold of your house’s main door. Then eat a little bit of that pomegranate and leave the rest outdoors, letting the birds eat the rest. Which is believed to bring abundance to your house and to everyone living in that house.

Also, lighting a tealight candle at 21.21 (9.21 PM) on the winter solstice night, and writing your wishes and things that you want to let go from your life on a small piece of paper, then burning the paper with the candlelight, spreading the ashes into the night is believed to bring you what you want and get rid of anything you do not want in your life.

These celebrations symbolize the opportunity for renewal, abandonment of old habits and negative feelings and an embracing of hope as the days once again begin to grow longer.

On this very special Winter Solstice, I wish you all a wonderful day and night… I am always here for you and I love you.
